Welcome to the Southampton Timebank

What is time banking?

• people feel that neighbours look out for each other
• people feel free to ask each other for help when they want it
• people share their skills
• people feel valued when they help each other out
• people enjoy a full and meaningful life

Time Banking strengthens communities by drawing people together and by developing mutual friendships and support.
It is a way of creating a sense of neighbourliness and building communities. It is a rewarding and enjoyable way for people to come together to share their skills. With Time Banking, people of all ages and abilities can join in and exchange a whole range of skills. It benefits from the diversity of its membership so there are a wide variety of skills exchanged between members

We were happy to donate several bags of items as well as £100 to the new help the homeless as part of #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday collection for the New Help the Homeless in Southampton

Thank you for all your donations for #GivingTuesday — We have taken several bags of clothes, food, toiletries etc.  We were also able to give £100 in cash thanks to the Southampton City Council ‘Full Flavoured Fundraising’ group who hold a monthly cake bake sale and donate the proceeds to various charities.

Timebanking links people to share their time and skills. Everyone’s time is equal: one hour of help earns one time credit to spend when you need it. We operate with an asset-based philosophy that everyone has something to give to help another - regardless of age, ability or background.

Promoting the Timebank @ Civic Centre

Timebank members can become Timebank Support Buddies and offer support and practical help to others in times of need.  The Support Buddies may offer transport to medical appointments, companionship,  collecting prescriptions, and help after coming home from hospital this could be preparing a hot meal, a flask of tea and sandwiches for later, etc.

All help and support offered will be welcome, and the Support Buddies agree in advance what they are prepared to do and for how long. The project  welcomes all existing Timebank  members and also hopes to  attract new members.

Contact the brokers if you would  like to join this scheme.
