This project is supported by Zero Waste North West, Glen Development Initiative, Rosemount Resource Centre and Outer West Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership. (Logos for the last two groups will be shown soon).
Rosemount and Glen Timebank is a tool for continuing the mutual aid networks which are supporting residents during the coronavirus crisis. While we are still staying safe and physically distant, there are necessary restrictions on the usual Timebanking activities so you are invited to think of solo actions you can take to enhance the neighbourhood and contribute to the community. How about cleaning up your back lane? Or sowing wildflowers at the end of your street?
Join the Timebank, make your offer and then email me a photo or short video of your activity. You will earn a credit for each hour of work. You can spend the credit later by paying for an activity another member has offered or you can donate your credits to the Community Pot for others to use. At present the Timebank activities aren't insured so you are asked to use your common sense, keep to the coronavirus physical distancing and hygiene guidelines, look after your own personal safety and respect the safety of others.
You are also invited to use your creativity in thinking up offers you can carry out remotely (eg. guitar lessons, phonecalls, information on local history..) Everyone has something to offer, something that someone else would appreciate. I am offering admin and I would appreciate anyone willing to join me in developing and promoting the Timebank as we move into the next stage when people are able to meet with others who don't live in the same household or are family members.
Timebanking is a means of exchange which is an alternative to the monopoly of the debt-based money system. It is a tool for building neighbourhood networks where everyone is valued. Everyone can contribute and everyone can benefit.
Please contact me by phone or email (see below) if you want to check anything out, find out more about Timebanking throughout the world or get involved with making this happen.

How does it work?
o Have a look at the offers and requests page for inspiration of skills given and received
o Think about how you could contribute to the timebanking community and what you would like in return
o Make a profile page that says a bit about who you are
o Post or accept an offer
o Respond to a request or post a new one
o Message members regarding their offers and requests
o Once the exchange has been accepted, arrange the date and time it will take place via the messaging system on the software
o Don’t forget to record your exchanges – please note; both parties need to confirm the exchange has taken place in order for this to appear as ‘complete’.
o Remember that an hour of your time is equal to an hour of someone else’s regardless of the activity
o Time banks are based on reciprocity – members need to both give and receive hours in order for the time bank to keep going.
o Here are some examples to help with understanding how it works:
1 to 1
exchange
Jo gives an
hour, working in Sam's garden.
Jo earns 1
hour.
Sam spends 1 hour.
Group
exchange (example 1)
Jo gives a talk about gardening to a group.
Jo earns 1
hour.
Sam and Lee go to the talk - they each spend 1 hour.
Group
exchange (example 2)
Sam runs a
coffee morning for all time bank members.
Sam earns 2 hours.
Jo and Lee attend and each spend1 hour.
Community
Pot / other member
Lee has
earned a lot of hours.
Lee donates
5 hours to the community pot and another 5 hours to Sam.
The
community receives 5 hours.
Sam receives
5 hours.
Lee's account is debited by 10 hours.
So, what are you waiting for?
Why not have a go and add an offer or request now!
Please note: Time Online 2 is currently in the development stage so this page and some others may change without warning.
